Internet Marketing vs. Network Marketing

Time to take stock!

Hi my name is Julius Moltgen. I am turning 46 this year and the time has come for me to take a serious looks at how and where I invest my time and effort in order to be able to live comfortably in the second half of my life.
If you were to ask me what I do professionally, my answer would be that I do Internet Marketing. I run Membership sites which help other marketers with their business. I also coach.

Before that I was, and still am, an independent distributor of Herbalife health related products. That’s Network Marketing or MLM – I have a downline of several thousand people in my Herbalife business. These are people I sponsored either directly or indirectly into my business. My organization is primarily under one downline member (a person I sponsored), So Kit Yi in Hong Kong. She is in the Presidents Team and I am a member of the Millionaire’s Team. This arrangement translates into a steady and secure flow of money.
I am saying this to explain that I have a pretty good angle on and fundamental knowledge of both network and internet marketing. If you are at a crossroad as you are reading this, you may want to follow my reasoning as I will now examine both. I know what I am talking about and if I seem biased this is due to my personal experience.
Let us pretend that you are sitting in front of me with the question: I need extra money and I am considering marketing – what shall I do?

Both Internet and Network Marketing are very similar in a way that it takes little to get started. The investment is a mixture of a small entrance fee, some products, and a healthy dose of hope – in other words, anybody can easily get started.

But who do you follow?
In Internet Marketing you will find lots of people who call themselves gurus and who will show you how to build a list and sell (usually internet marketing) products to your list. Successful marketers will build communities as a way of building connections; others will simply have a list which they attempt to grow.
There is Plenty of potential for confusion!
The market is dominated by very big players such as Google but we all play the game. Info products is a big market and top Marketers will create their $2000 info and coaching packages while the much larger group keeps selling $5-$17 products to each other.

Hope is the key word here, hope rather than vision. Hope that the next $37 info package will put you into the position to drive that Ferrari. I have access to a lot of this information and usually I find that I am simply too busy to read or to listen or watch the information that I purchased on hopes of making big money.

That's me checking out the map. I believe in planning and focus.

Where am I today?

I have created some reasonably successful products called Favyoutube which put me into the six figure income bracket. Favyoutube.com gets sites nicely indexed . Fav100.com gives you a lot of the products for your monthly subscription that you can promote for 100% profit. FavAds.net are Adsense-like ads which get you affiliate commissions rather than income per click.

Where am I going?

While I recognize that I am doing ok in the upper middle income bracket, I need a MAJOR breakthrough to make it into the 7 figure income group.

What I make now pays for my house at the beach, my hobbies and my staff – but financial freedom looks different!

I am comfortable – but also smart enough to know that I am not the master of my business because I am dependent on many factors which I don’t completely control.

Growing residual income?
Some of my Internet Marketing friends say things like how they are now focusing more on promoting products with residual income. That makes sense – and means that they will promote products where they can get a cut of a monthly membership fee rather than just one off sales.
I have an inside view on both. Most membership sites I join I will forget until I see their next paypal payment when I make it. And then – because I often did not find the time to use the site – I cancel it – even asking for refunds when offered. The average time a member stays in any kind of membership site is 9 months! And this is not growing the desired residual income. In other words that does not look like steady income to me at all.

Overloaded with information and no time for action!
Do you know the feeling? I am busy - and I need to be really organized to be PRODUCTIVE. I want to be on a completely different level.
As a matter of fact , if I was ill for an extended period of time, my business would probably suffer seriously. I am 46 – and I plan to be healthy – I walk and will start to jog regularly ….. but I also had a motorcycle accident 16 months ago when a 67 year old on medication ignored some traffic rules (I no longer drive motorbike!). I take care of my health but one can not plan against an accident !

15 years or residual income with Herbalife!
In Network Marketing you usually find a successful blueprint to follow. There is an intelligent training concept and a community of likeminded members who pursue similar goals.

I am realistic – other than a membership site we must have a consumable offline product: Dietary supplements, skin and body care as well as an interesting education plan which , at the very least, help you to keep your body in shape.

I am with Herbalife , have been for over 15 years, I and like what the products do for me and the people around me.

Fair enough. I am not a health freak – but I plan to be healthy
For an Internet Marketer their internet platform is superior for training. It is great for support and education. For Lead generation they are deep in the Web1 world.

Let's all agree that health and rich is better and move on ....

Successful Network Marketing works with a simple successful formula everybody can follow – duplication is the key – and the more people you show how to duplicate the formula, the greater is your income.

Earning for Dummies?
Imagine buying a new mobile phone. You might be excited and try all the buttons. In network marketing they would teach you to read the manual first – because it is proven that those who do use their phones more efficiently. And if you get all friends to read the manual first – everybody will be more efficient.

It’s easy to duplicate!

While in Internet Marketing you do most of the work with the help of your friends – in Network Marketing you have more focused group dynamic. The products and formulas are not changing all the time and you don’t really have to stay on top all the time. You just focus on duplicating a lot.

Personal Growth?
I love it. Turn all "should do" into "must do" - how would that turn things around in your life. This is what coaching is about and with network marketing this is usually just a byproduct. "For things to change you've got to change" teaches Jim Rohn - YES it is really that simple.

Combining the two:
An internet marketer who gets involved in network marketing will not have to buy his leads. He will already have a circle of influence that is large and in case he does not – he will know what do to. That’s the great thing in Web 2 – working with people. Who doesn’t want to be healthy and have a bit more control over his destiny.
